Best Golf Courses in Thailand

6 ranked courses in Thailand

Thailand has six clubs in this guide: two in Chonburi, two north of Bangkok, and two further afield at Chiang Mai and Hua Hin. Siam Country Club Pattaya's Old Course opened in 1971 to an Ichisuke Izumi design and is described as Thailand's first privately owned golf course. Schmidt-Curley Design renovated it, reopening it in 2007, and it has hosted Honda LPGA Thailand while still taking visitors every day. Also in Chonburi, Amata Spring Country Club is a private Lee Schmidt design built for the Amata City industrial complex east of Bangkok, with water on most holes and island greens. North of the capital, Alpine Golf Club at Khlong Luang in Pathum Thani is a 1996 Ron Garl course that held the golf events of the 1998 Asian Games and the Johnnie Walker Classic in 2000 and 2004, with Tiger Woods winning the 2000 edition. Ayodhya Links in Wang Noi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, opened in 2007 on low, flood-prone ground; despite the name it is a parkland course, built from a Thomson Perrett ground plan that the owner, Pitak Intrawityanunt, completed. In the north, Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club at Mae Rim is a Denis Griffiths course of 7,202 yards with mountain views. Pineapple Valley Golf Club Hua Hin, a Pirapon Namatra design on former pineapple fields at Thap Tai, is open to the public, and its 139-yard par-3 15th looks toward the Gulf of Thailand.

About Golf Courses in Thailand

Pattaya is the base for Siam Country Club, where visitors can play the Old Course any day, while Amata Spring in Chonburi needs a member introduction. Alpine and Ayodhya Links are private clubs north of Bangkok; Ayodhya plays by invitation only, and Alpine asks golfers to call ahead about tee times. Hua Hin, with Stay & Play packages at Pineapple Valley, and Chiang Mai for Green Valley are trips of their own, both with mandatory caddies.
