Best Golf Courses in Nigeria
4 ranked courses in Nigeria
Nigeria has four clubs in this guide, all 18-hole parkland courses: three resort courses and one private club. Two are in Lagos. Ikoyi Club 1938 takes its name from the year the European Club and the Lagos Golf Club merged, and its 5,838-meter course is the golf section of a multi-sport club spread over roughly 456 acres in Ikoyi. Play there is by member invitation. Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate, off the Lekki-Epe Expressway, is a par 72 by Robert O'Friel with lakes in play inside a 308-hectare forest estate, plus a nine-hole Mashie course. In October 2026 it staged the Lakowe Lakes Classic, the first Sunshine Development Tour event in West Africa. In Akwa Ibom State, Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort at Uyo was built by the state government in 2007 around a par 72 championship course, and about 350 golfers entered its Ibom Open in June 2026. Smokin Hills Golf Resort at Ilara-Mokin was the first golf course built in Ondo State, a cocoa-producing part of the country. Ron Garl laid out its par 72 across about 140 acres of rolling country, and the name comes from the morning mist that rises off the surrounding hills.

About Golf Courses in Nigeria
Lagos links Ikoyi Club 1938 and Lakowe Lakes, where cottages and a lodge on the estate allow an overnight stay; a round at Ikoyi has to be arranged through a member. Smokin Hills is a trip inland, with Akure about 20 minutes away as the base. Uyo is a separate stop, where the course and clubhouse stayed open through the 2026 hotel renovation, so lodging is booked elsewhere in the city.
