Best Golf Courses in Hong Kong
3 ranked courses in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has three clubs in this guide, and they show three sides of golf in the territory. The Hong Kong Golf Club was founded in 1889 and settled at Fanling in the New Territories in 1911. Its Old Course, par 71 and 6,246 yards, runs through tree-lined corridors with modest bunkering, owes its re-layout and re-bunkering to L.S. Greenhill, and has hosted the Hong Kong Open at Fanling since 1959. In Sai Kung District, The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club opened in 1982 on a rugged peninsula with sea on three sides and ocean views across 270 degrees. Its par-70 course was redesigned, with the new layout opening in 2006, and the club staged the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in 2015. A six-hole academy course, tennis and squash courts and a marina club fill out the grounds. Offshore, The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course opened in 1995 on an island site of more than 250 hectares. It is Hong Kong's only public golf course, with 54 holes: Gary Player's North and South and a Nelson & Haworth East. The par-72 North is walking only, and its par-3 14th is singled out for its views.

About Golf Courses in Hong Kong
Sai Kung is the base for two of the three. Kau Sai Chau is a 15-minute ferry from Sai Kung town and a short shuttle bus, with tee times reserved through the course's website, while Clearwater Bay plays by member invitation. Fanling is a separate trip on the East Rail line to Fanling station, about 40 minutes from Kowloon, followed by a short taxi to the Hong Kong Golf Club.
