About The Barwon Heads Golf Club

The Barwon Heads Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 70 links on the Bass Strait coast of the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. Victor East, then the professional at Royal Melbourne, laid out the course, and the architects Neil Crafter and Paul Mogford later reworked it. The ground rolls over sand dunes, with tea tree along parts of the routing, and the links is exposed to the coastal wind. The course has a place among the Golf Australia Top 100.

  • The 13th is a short par 3 with no bunkers, exposed to the wind.
  • The open, exposed linksland means the wind is a factor.
  • Practice areas and teaching professionals support practice before or after a round.
  • The clubhouse is heritage-listed and holds a restaurant and lounge, so the day can end at the club.

History of The Barwon Heads Golf Club

Barwon Heads Golf Club was founded in 1907 as a nine-hole course north of the township. In 1920 it moved to its present site on the Bass Strait coast, where Victor East, the Royal Melbourne professional, laid out the links that members and visitors play today. Neil Crafter and Paul Mogford later reworked the course.
