About Achimota Golf Club
Achimota Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 parkland course on the grounds of Achimota School in Accra, Ghana. Trees and wooded surroundings define the setting. The club has about 300 members but welcomes visitors, and its facilities include a pro shop, a restaurant and a bar. A practice area and a teaching professional help visitors loosen up before a round.
- The first Ghana Open Championship was played at Achimota in 1940.
- Paul McGinley's firm, McGinley Golf, led a rehabilitation of the course that was completed in 2015 with backing from Tullow Oil.
- The golf academy was rebuilt in 2012.

History of Achimota Golf Club
Achimota's golf began among the teachers at Achimota School, who formed a staff club and laid out a seven-hole course in 1934. By 1970 the layout had grown to the full 18.
