About Monte Rei Golf and Country Club Golf Course

Monte Rei Golf and Country Club is one of only two Jack Nicklaus Signature courses in Portugal and the most exclusive golf resort on the Eastern Algarve — a development that deliberately limited its membership and green fee availability to maintain exceptional conditioning and an uncrowded, private-club atmosphere within a resort setting. Nicklaus designed the course on 270 hectares of rolling countryside near Vila Nova de Cacela, using the natural topography of low scrub hills, cork oaks, and carob trees to create a course of genuine length and beauty. The course plays to 7,133 yards and features generous fairways, large Bermuda grass greens, and strategic water features that reward accuracy over brute force. Monte Rei's restricted-access model means tee sheets are never full: a typical day sees no more than 60 golfers on the course, preserving the pace and quality of the experience. The resort includes an ultra-luxury villa community and has been voted Portugal's top golf resort by Condé Nast Traveller multiple times.
