About Ebotse Links
Ebotse Links is an 18-hole, par 72 course in Benoni on the East Rand of Johannesburg, part of the Ebotse Golf and Country Estate. It was designed by Peter Matkovich of Matkovich & Hayes Golf Course Architects and opened in 2008. The layout is links-style and was built on a former quarry and mining site, with about two million cubic metres of earth moved to create mounds, dunes and elevation changes of up to 25 metres. That is unusual for Johannesburg, where courses are mostly built on flat ground. Seven holes are played on the water around the Rynfield lake, and the course was built to US PGA specifications. The front nine weaves through the housing development and the back nine plays across more open terrain. The driving range is built in the quarry, with floating greens in a central dam. The estate is in the Rynfield area of Benoni, and the course is open to visiting golfers.

The club describes it as the only inland links course in South Africa.
When to play Ebotse Links
May through August is the dry Highveld winter, with cool, sunny days of about 15 to 22 degrees Celsius and little rain, which gives firm, fast playing conditions. September through April is the wet season, with afternoon thunderstorms common on the Johannesburg plateau, though morning rounds are usually reliable.
